SCAP Leaders Earn National CCAP Credential

At Southeastern Community Action Partnership, leadership is more than a title—it’s a commitment to serving our community with passion, knowledge, and vision. That’s why we’re proud to share that Dr. Ericka J. Whitaker, CEO, and Kathleen Lowe Jacobs, CSBG Director, have both earned the Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) credential, awarded at the National Community Action Partnership National Convention in Detroit, Michigan.
The CCAP program is designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate deep knowledge and application of the values, history, and strategies that guide Community Action agencies nationwide.
This year, more than 200 professionals worldwide earned the CCAP credential, including just three in North Carolina. SCAP is especially proud that two of those honorees represent our agency.
For Dr. Whitaker, the credential is a step forward in leadership:
“This credential gave me the push to lead with more conviction and passion. It strengthened my knowledge about the importance of empowering others. I am better because of this opportunity and plan to continue the mission of Community Action, helping people help themselves and each other.”
For Kathleen Lowe Jacobs, it’s a reaffirmation of purpose:
“Earning the Community Action Professional Certification was not just a personal achievement—it was a powerful reminder of why I do this work. This certification affirms my commitment to walk beside others, foster change, and help build a more compassionate and connected community.”
By investing in the professional growth of our leaders, SCAP enhances its ability to fulfill its mission: improving our community and empowering individuals to achieve their maximum potential.
We celebrate this milestone, not only for Dr. Whitaker and Ms. Jacobs, but for the entire SCAP family and the communities we serve.
