Welcome to Southeastern Community Action Partnership, Inc. – one of North Carolina’s largest community action agencies.

Southeastern Community Action Partnership, Inc., formerly Southeastern Community & Family Services, is a private, statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of human life for residents in North Carolina. Governed by a 21-member Board of Directors and a team of professional advisors, SCAP, Inc has been providing an array of services for children and families since 1964.

Serving approximately 3,200 low income individuals and families in seven counties, Southeastern Community Action Partnership’s main goal is to establish self-sufficiency and provide economic opportunities to residents in rural regions.

Operating a community action agency requires great leadership in partnership with our stakeholders and staff who work with individuals and families daily. In a team effort, we stand firm on our first commitment to those we serve—listening to their concerns and assessing the needs of the community to provide services that will benefit individuals, families, and our communities. As with any other community action agency, SCAP, Inc. is on a mission to empower low-income families as they strive for a better way of life.

For more than 50 years, SCAP’s, Inc. programs and services—from our early childhood education program, to our self-sufficiency program, and every other program in between—have positively impacted children and families in seven counties in southeastern North Carolina. Our goal is to continue serving these areas, and expand to new ones, as the need increases.

One of our greatest strengths involves embracing internal change as our external environment evolves. Whether it’s improving and updating our technology, expanding our office space, we are developing a reputation for identifying our needs and promptly making changes, so that we can move forward in serving the community.

In addition to the various programs Southeastern manages, we serve over 1,000 Head Start students and their parents, manage and oversee scholarship and internship programs, and support several other community initiatives on an annual basis.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us and, again, welcome to Southeastern Community Action Partnership (SCAP).

Sincerely,

Ericka J. Whitaker, Ed. D.
