Government Shutdown: SCAP Operations Update

With the federal government shutdown now in effect, Southeastern Community Action Partnership and Community Action Agencies across North Carolina are working to protect essential services for the communities we serve.

We recognize that this shutdown will likely disrupt critical programs that our individuals, families, seniors, and low-income households depend on—such as Head Start and Early Head Start, Housing Choice Vouchers, and services provided through CSBG, such as nutrition and energy assistance, and workforce development.

What This Means for Our Community:

  • Families & Community Members: Some programs may experience delays or temporary suspension. We are committed to connecting you with all available resources and will share updates as quickly as we receive them. Please check our website and social media channels periodically for updates.
  • Vendors & Partners: Contractual obligations may be temporarily adjusted as we navigate funding delays. Your patience and collaboration are deeply appreciated.

While federal funding is now delayed, our agency remains committed to our mission. We are working closely with state and local partners to minimize disruption, safeguard core services, and keep our communities informed.

Community Action was created in moments of national challenge, and in these uncertain times, our commitment remains clear: to fight poverty, empower families, and serve our communities with compassion and purpose.
