Meet Syreeta Shaw: SCAP’s New CSBG Director for the Piedmont Region

Southeastern Community Action Partnership (SCAP) is pleased to welcome Syreeta Shaw as CSBG Director for the Piedmont Region.

In this role, Shaw will oversee Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) operations in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Randolph counties as SCAP works to restore Community Action services and establish a strong foundation for long-term community impact throughout the region.

With nearly two decades of experience in Community Action and human services, Shaw brings extensive expertise in program administration, strategic planning, community engagement, affordable housing, weatherization programs, and capital project management. Throughout her career, she has successfully managed multi-county programs, developed community partnerships, and led initiatives focused on helping families achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

“We are excited to welcome Syreeta to the SCAP leadership team,” said Dr. Ericka J. Whitaker, Chief Executive Officer of SCAP.

“Her experience, commitment to Community Action, and passion for serving others make her uniquely qualified to lead this important work as we expand our reach into the Piedmont Region.”

As SCAP begins the process of establishing Community Action services in Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Randolph counties, Shaw will focus on building relationships with community leaders, engaging residents, conducting outreach, and ensuring future services reflect local needs and priorities.

“Community Action begins with listening,” said Shaw. “I am excited to join SCAP during this important period of growth and look forward to meeting residents, building partnerships, and working alongside communities to create opportunities that strengthen families and improve lives.”

Over the coming months, residents will have opportunities to meet Shaw at community events, including SCAP’s Big Pop Up Family Resource Fairs, as the organization continues its outreach efforts throughout the region.
