SCAP Supports Scotland County Families at Annual Back-to-School Event

Southeastern Community Action Partnership (SCAP) was proud to join families, community partners and local organizations in Laurinburg on August 8 for the Scotland County NAACP’s annual Back to School / Stay in School event at Scotland High School.
For more than 25 years, the community event has helped Scotland County students prepare for a successful school year. What began as an effort to provide basic school supplies has grown into a longstanding community tradition. This year, volunteers packed more than 1,200 bookbags filled with school supplies for local students.
Members of SCAP’s CSBG and Head Start teams participated in the event, connecting directly with families and sharing information about programs, resources and opportunities available through the agency.
SCAP team members also assisted individuals interested in accessing services, shared employment information and connected families with Head Start enrollment resources as SCAP prepares to reopen the Laurinburg Head Start Center, tentatively scheduled for October 2026.
Showing Up for the Communities We Serve
From early childhood education and family support to employment resources and programs designed to help individuals and families move toward self-sufficiency, SCAP remains committed to supporting communities throughout southeastern North Carolina.
The Back to School / Stay in School event also provided an opportunity for SCAP to strengthen its connection with Scotland County as the organization prepares to expand its presence in Laurinburg through the reopening of its Head Start Center.
SCAP thanks the Scotland County NAACP, volunteers and community partners whose continued commitment makes this annual event possible and helps Scotland County students begin the school year prepared for success.
